Meet Our Brand New Recruiter!

September 27, 2019

This month, Iron City Acquisitions gained an incredible new Recruiter, Ashley Alexander! Ms. Alexander joined the team on September 21st and has kicked off her first week in style and flash. We wanted our team, clientele, and industry to get to know this entrepreneur the way that we have, so we sat down with Ashley for a one-on-one interview to discuss the road here and what the future looks like for her.

Where are you from?

“I was born in Anniston, Alabama. I grew up in a quaint little city in the country nestled between Anniston and Gadsden.”

What childhood experiences were most influential in your life?

“My parents always encouraged me to be super involved in as many activities as possible, which leads to endless opportunities that reveal themselves through time in any setting or circumstance.  My dad is an entrepreneur and business owner, and I credit him with the origin of my creativity and work ethic, as I grew up seeing how involved and committed to his work he was. I was strongly urged to take risks and go to the extreme for things that I want to achieve or gain. My family and peers would describe me as fearless, outgoing, silly, and one of a kind.”

Were you in any sports or extracurriculars?

“I was a competitive cheerleader throughout my childhood and high school, and I have been an avid golfer since I was 11. The level of involvement with sports in my life advanced my competitive spirit.”

Did you have any idea you would end up in this field?

“I wanted to be a teacher from five years old until I was actually in college, so not particularly.  Since I began working in college, I always knew that I wanted to work in a diverse environment creating interpersonal relationships. I went to Jacksonville State University, worked two jobs, and was an active member of Zeta Tau Alpha. I gained a lot of confidence from doing well in school as a full-time student who also worked full-time, so I knew I could be successful no matter what industry I ended up in.”

What would you consider to be your greatest skill, quality, or asset?

“I believe that my one of my greatest assets is my level of determination in everything that I do. I always strive to master everything new and will not stop until I have succeeded.  Another contributing quality that I bring to my career is that I have never meet a stranger and love meeting new people.”

What were your first thoughts when starting with the company? What was something unique you noticed?

“I was super excited to start with Iron City Acquisitions from the day of my preliminary interview!  The company culture really struck me as unique, and it made me want to be a part of building and maintaining a team with such enthusiasm.”

How would you describe the culture at your company?

“The culture at Iron City Acquisitions is overflowing with positivity and good vibes.  In our office, you are surrounded by people who are equally passionate and driven in their careers and our company.  Everyone helps one another reach their goals and become the best they can be.”

What has been your best memory with the company?

“My best memory thus far with the company was my first team night- meeting everyone in the park after work and playing ultimate frisbee with the team.  When we finished in the park, we headed over to a local pub/grill to have drinks to wrap up the night!”

How has this career changed you as a person so far?

“This career path has polished my social skills and confidence in my decision making. Since starting down this career path, I now see myself advancing from my current role to that of a recruiting consultant.”

What qualities do you look for when recruiting?

“I look for people who have a history of customer service or any kind of retail/restaurant experience because for in company, you must be a people's person.  There is nothing more refreshing than speaking with an outgoing candidate who is pumped about creating and building relationships with people.”

What resume advice do you have for candidates?

“Include any and all positions you have ever had, no matter how small or irrelevant you feel that it may be. There is value in the positive traits that you gain from even the most basic positions, and showing that you have any work experience is better than leaving that space.”

What is one tip you wish more people knew when coming in to interview?

“To be assertive and not be scared to ask questions. Your confidence goes a long way.”

What are your goals with the company?

“I want to get Iron City Acquisitions built up to full capacity and promote managers to help open three new locations in the next twelve months. I plan to continue bringing in strong candidates to exceed our goals.”

What is your favorite part of being a leader in the company?

“I love seeing the vast growth that our team members can make in such a short amount of time on our company.  It is absolutely inspiring to see the tools that our company provides in order to develop leaders and offer them endless opportunities.”

When she’s not killing it in the office, or bonding with her team members, Ashley can be found

spending time with her dog, Nala.  They enjoy hiking, camping, and swimming together. She also enjoys live music, and goes to as many concerts and festivals as possible.
